Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust wins Quicksilva sponsored category at e-Health Insider Awards 2007

Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust took home the winners prize last night for the category of Excellence in Health Information Management at the BT e-Health Insider Awards 2007.

It’s introduction of Dr Foster Intelligence's Patient Experience Tracker tool to gather patient opinion on hospital care proved a hit with the judges, who were impressed that the system used to record patients' views about their care yielded such rich information. Staff had also evidently made a commitment to act on the results.

As sponsors of the category, Quicksilva staff and guests were out in force at the awards held at the BAFTA headquarters on Piccadilly, London, and complimented everything from the choice of venue and organisation of the event, to the catering and audio visual effects. Bringing wit and humour to the proceedings was Dr Phil Hammond, a GP and broadcaster who hosted the evening for the 200 attendees.

The awards were to highlight and reward the hard work and bright ideas of information and communications technology staff in healthcare organisations.

Presenting the award was Quicksilva's managing director, Gayna Hart, who said “Homerton were worthy winners and, judging by the audience response, a popular choice. Gathering feedback is key to our business improvement process and as Homerton has shown committing to acting on that feedback can lift your service provision to where you want it to be”.

Congratulations also go to runners-up Newham Primary Care Trust and suppliers Cyres. Newham PCT developed an innovative programme with Serco which enables community matrons to identify patients at increased risk of hospitalisation and intervene to offer them additional support and care. Cyres developed a tool that has transformed the way laboratories report and submit their data to the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.

Gayna Hart, added, “The standard of entries was extremely impressive, and just shows the innovation in patient care being implemented out there in the NHS. With technology playing a complementary role in improving services both patients and staff reap the benefits”.
