Happy Mind / Healthy Body at Quicksilva

The secret to our success for delivering software that “wows” our client is to have a happy and healthy team - happy mind and a healthy body.  At Quicksilva, we have a number of people that participate and in many cases excel in a variety of sports, making it an ideal place to keep fit and get a good "work life weave". With a high number of sporty individuals, not only does it bring out the competitive spirit within the company, it’s what brings our diverse team together.

Many spend their lunch hour away from the desk, heading to the office gym, squash at the local sports centre, or even the park for a game of tennis. Not only is it great exercise but everyone finds it revatilasing; giving a fresh and more focussed approach for the afternoon’s work.  Other leisure activities include swimming, aerobics, pilates, tai chi and walking, to name but a few.

Since joining Quicksilva I have found myself being more active and more regularly participating in sporting activities. Not only do we have gym facilities on site, we are also able to enjoy walks, runs and cycling. This is not only beneficial to us all from a health perspective but also beneficial to Quicksilva, as it’s a great opportunity to gain inspiration from the stunning Wiltshire scenery and take in fresh air to clear our minds and refocus on the tasks required. - James
"One of the great things about working at Quicksilva is the work-life balance ethos that runs throughout the company enabling me to send out a diary invite to three other colleagues and arrange to play some tennis doubles over lunch-time (which we did the other day). I think this level of flexibility is greatly appreciated by all employees and makes you go that extra mile to achieve bigger and better things for the company." - Alphie

For those who prefer team orientated sports, Quicksilva have an after work football session open to girls and boys and have also challenged local companies in a mixture of sports including football and cricket.  These activities are great in building team spirit and although there is a healthy competitive edge, they are great fun and very social events.

"Don’t get me wrong, I like the gym and getting some ’me’ time whilst going for a jog at lunch but Quicksilva really comes into its own when I have a whole office of varying team sports to choose from! Even typically male dominated sports such as football, it doesn’t phase the guys at work when a girl pitches up! I even manage to score a goal from time to time!" - Kelly

To put our fitness, skill, and versatility to the test, Quicksilva annually enters Microsoft Challenger - a 4 day event that pushes competitors’ physical, mental and tactical skills to the limit.  We have always risen to the challenge and done well which can probably be put down to training - a combination of all of the above, as well as mind exercises such as crosswords and Sudoku puzzles.
